FAQ
Recovery typically takes a few days to a week, depending on the complexity of the extraction. For more complex cases, such as wisdom teeth extractions, recovery may extend to 2-3 weeks. It's normal to experience some swelling and discomfort during this period. Be sure to follow the post-operative care instructions provided to promote healing and avoid complications.
After the extraction, your dentist will place gauze in the extraction site for you to bite down on to help stop the bleeding. They will let you know how long to keep the gauze in place. Follow the aftercare instructions provided, which include avoiding certain foods, keeping the extraction site clean, and possibly taking prescribed medications. Stick to soft foods for the first few days and avoid hot, spicy, and crunchy foods, as well as alcohol and smoking, to aid the healing process. You can continue to brush your teeth, but be gentle around the extraction site. Avoid rinsing your mouth vigorously for the first 24 hours to prevent dislodging the blood clot that forms in the socket.
You will be given a local anesthetic to numb the area, so you shouldn't feel pain during the procedure. You will feel pressure during the extraction which is normal, but feel reassured we take every measure to ensure your comfort.
